Late one warm Friday night, Flying Pigs Sanctuary received a call that couldn’t wait. A large pig, Charlie, was wandering the Falling Waters neighborhood in Soddy Daisy, Tennessee, dangerously close to someone’s pool. While the thought of a pig taking a swim might seem funny, Charlie was in a precarious situation and needed help fast.

Without hesitation, we set out on what would become a 12-hour rescue mission covering 270 miles. With $100 worth of supplies, a team of dedicated volunteers, and a neighborhood of supportive residents, we embarked on a journey to save Charlie. What we didn’t know was that Charlie wasn’t alone—his son, Snoopy (soon affectionately nicknamed Snoop Dogg), was trotting alongside him, adding a heartwarming twist to the mission.

The rescue wasn’t easy. Charlie and Snoopy proved to be elusive, darting through yards and evading capture with surprising agility. But the incredible support from the Falling Waters community kept us going. Neighbors reported sightings, provided updates, and joined the effort. Special thanks go to Jerry from Ivy Academy, whose expertise and hands-on help were instrumental in safely securing these two spirited pigs.

After hours of teamwork, Charlie and Snoopy were finally caught and loaded into the trusty 4Runner and brought to the safety of Flying Pigs Sanctuary. Here, they are now part of our sanctuary “Farmly,” where they’ll live out the rest of their lives surrounded by love, care, and protection.

While their rescue story has a happy ending, the costs of bringing them to safety are significant. From transportation and supplies to vet bills ensuring their health after such a stressful ordeal, every step of the process relies on resources and support.
