Laverne and Shirley

Laverne and Shirley may not be the very first hens that started it all on Forest Ave in East Nashville, but they are a constant reminder of where this entire sanctuary began. These two Rhode Island Reds are inseparable, always side by side, scratching, exploring, and bringing a sense of joy and nostalgia to the farm.

Now, they live happily in the Chicken Palace alongside their feathered friends, Goldie Hen, Momma, and Nubbin. Whether they’re dust bathing, foraging, or just keeping each other company, their bond is unbreakable, and their presence is a beautiful nod to the roots of Flying Pigs Sanctuary.
